Your book is a precious jewel.
You’ve spent time, money, and maybe even tears writing your story, and now you’re ready to pursue publishing.
Whether you’re looking for a traditional publisher, or sending your book out indie style, you know you need an editor to help polish it up and make it shine.
That’s where I can help! Hi, I’m Mel. I’m a copy editor who comes with both an MA in English and a certificate in copyediting, but that’s not why you should hire me.
I love books (read: I’m obsessed with books) and I spend my day working with the written word as a writer, editor, and audiobook narrator. I understand how precious your words are and how hard you worked to get to this place. I also understand how helpful it is to work with an editor who understands you.
I immerse myself in every project I work on, which means I will give your words the same level of care I’d give my own writing.
When it comes to editing, my belief is that an editor’s job is to polish the gem that already exists. Just like a diamond, your story’s sparkle will be revealed once it has been polished and perfected.
I work comfortably with The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition and The AP Stylebook.
While I’m happy to consider all genres for editing, I work particularly well with the faith-based market for fiction, nonfiction, and memoir.
My qualifications:
- MA in English – Creative Writing from SNHU
- Master of Religious Studies (Biblically based) from SCS
- Certificate in Copyediting from UCSD
- Developmental Editing classes at The Editorial Freelancers Association
- Featured conference speaker for the following topics: Using Voice & Tone in Custom Style Guides, Blog Writing, Finding Your Voice, Copywriting, UX Writing
